MORE THAN HALF OF YOUNG LGBTQ+ PEOPLE REPORT EXPERIENCING CYBERLGBTQPHOBIA
The internet offers incredible opportunities for learning, gathering, and entertainment. However, LGBTQ+ people are still being targeted on digital platforms, and this violence, which is often not taken seriously, has real and harmful consequences for individuals.
Because cyberLGBTQphobia occurs online, bullies don’t see the pain they’re causing, making it easy for them to continue or even escalate their attacks in ways they might not do if they were face to face with the person. But the insults, taunts, and threats that circulate online hurt real people.
