About the event

Since November 2020, Fondation Émergence has been organizing virtual awareness tours throughout Quebec as part of its Pour que agir est gai (Aging Gayfully) program. This month, it's the turn of the Quebec English-speaking communities.

For the realization of this event, we are partnering up with our English-speaking LGBTQ + partner:

  • Gay and Gray

The lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBTQ +) population is commonly estimated to be around 10% of the total population. However, among the elderly, these people remain invisible, mainly by fear of disclosing their difference. This phenomenon has significant repercussions on their well-being and their health, and numerous studies highlight the fact that LGBTQ + seniors constitute a particularly vulnerable population.

This training will cover:

  • An introduction to the components of sexual and gender diversity (LGBTQ+ 101)
  • A presentation of the issues and realities experienced by LGBTQ+ seniors
  • An overview of the issues facing LGBTQ + caregivers
  • Best practices to adopt in order to better meet the needs of LGBTQ + seniors
  • The testimony of an English-speaking LGBTQ + senior
  • A question-and-answer session

Free event, open to all, registration required.

Fondation Émergence also offers this training session upon request to any group of 10 people or more.
